The premises at 70 CHARING CROSS ROAD was built as a bookshop more than 100 years ago and is at the center of the worlds best known bookselling street, surrounded by other specialist and general bookshops. Viewers of the film, 84 Charing Cross Road, could be forgiven a sense of deja vu as the set designers for the film took copious notes and Polaroid's of the bookshop during the preparation for designing the set.

Shipleys have always specialized in art, uniquely combining both new and old or rare books, including exhibition catalogues, and some of the rarer artists' books.

Shipleys stock more than 20,000 titles on the subjects of Art and Architecture, Fashion and Photography; Graphic Design and Illustration. Shipleys have a considerable reputation for stocking and finding the more elusive titles.
